Formal Maternity From Isabella Oliver August 11, 2008

For those of you who are newly pregnant, VERY pregnant or recently un-pregnant and need a formal dress? This is it! The Wrap Dress from Isabella Oliver is chic and modern with a current and feminine Greek Goddess vibe. For more info check out my contributing editor piece (which is published every Monday) at Smarter Babies & Kids online.

The Versatile ‘Un-Dress’ August 8, 2008

I am LOVING this dress! It has such a glamorous Film Noir vibe to it, yet still ties in the must-have fall trends of menswear, bows and ’skirts.’ With its versatile style and reasonable price tag, you could wear it with a jacket to the office (chances are unless you’re a six foot glamazon it won’t be this short on you) or pair it up with some black lace tights and platform stilettos creating a gorgeous dinner date ensemble. I might just grab it for an evening wedding in late September! BCBGMAXAZRIA Mock Two Piece Chiffon and Tweed Dress

I get that it’s couture, but still.

I’m thinking pre-school pick up, but I’m torn between the lavender midriff and the diner waitress ensemble…

I know I’ve been posting a lot of dresses lately, but it’s been 100 degrees in LA (my car thermometer read 115 at Z’s school today) and I just can’t get enough of how easy they are. The less I have to think about what I’m going to throw on, the better, and dresses are an entire outfit. I came across this one while answering a reader’s post - I think it’s gorgeous. The price is right and it’s the perfect marriage between modern, chic and comfy. Kookai Cornelli Embellished Shift Dress $127.62 at asos.com

I came across this Marc Jacobs Printed Ottoman Dress, marked down from $1400 to $559 at Nordstrom online. Did I buy it? No. Do I love it? *SIGH* Very much. If you happen to be in the market for a five hundred dollar-ish mini dress? This might just be the one for you. http://preview.tinyurl.com/6rt5av

Timeless Ladylike Chic June 1, 2008

I attended a party yesterday at my dear friend L’s house, who is the epitome of classic, Jackie-O-esque style. Not only is she an amazing hostess (think sterling tea set, monogrammed linen napkins and Herend china) she is a timeless and impeccable dresser. She was wearing this lime, linen dress from Banana Republic (on sale for $99.99 online) and a pair of STUNNING nude colored, Arabesque heels from Prada. (Similar to these, on sale for $390 at neimanmarcus.com) She teamed them up with turquoise enamel bracelets, not unlike this Chevron Patterned, Lee Angel Double Bangle ($101 at chickdowntown.com) her vintage gold charm bracelet, and a pair of ball cage earrings studded with green and turquoise stones. (Similar to these J.Crew Basket Weave Bauble Earrings $55) Of course it doesn’t hurt that she has looks and etiquette on par with Charlotte from Sex And The City…thanks L!

Yet Another Summer Outfit for Under $100 May 15, 2008

I was dropping Z off at school last week, when I bumped into a friend of mine wearing these jeans. Being that she is a very fashionable friend (used to be in the business) I was pleasantly surprised when I asked her where she got them. They were from Forever 21! (They looked like J Brand) They’re a great wash, and fit her well. (And no - she isn’t 6 feet tall; ‘Catelyn’ Wide Leg Jeans $27.80) http://tinyurl.com/55qck4 I’ve teamed them up with this pretty cotton top that I saw (and touched - yes, it’s actually cotton) there a few days ago. (Embroidered Woven Tunic in Rust $22.80) http://tinyurl.com/4r6ssb I also bought these suede and leather ‘Athena’ sandals the same day at Urban Outfitters for $48. I got them in Mauve, but like the Teal ones better with this outfit. http://tinyurl.com/45234m For forty-eight bucks? I just might get the Teal ones too! LASM
